the timeline's wrong! She was NOT ten when she met Penny! I hate it when the movie differs so much from the book. Sigh... oh well. That doesn't mean the movie is bad, though. I think it's good... so far...and much like the book in other ways.

there are always differences in movies. part of it is probably b/c of how much it is to make a movie and how much time it takes. no movie is ever fully like the book. it is what makes the two versions unique though.

I know movies are never exact, Lots of the timeline is off.
She wouldn't have had the green riding habit the summer her grandfather purchases penny.
It just seems like these things would be easy to do correctly.

they may or may not be asy to correct. there are a lot of changes made to scripts and some things are hard to keep the same because of budgets. I'm not saying it's ok that the timeline is off, but I'm learning about movie-making b/c I want to do something in film. I really like the movie a lot.

Ok, granted, I've only seen about 10 minutes of the movie. But, really, who actually expected it to keep to the timeline? I certainly didn't. I love when my favorite books are adapted as movies, and not a one of them has been "exactly" like the book. Timeline manipulation can combine events to make more sense as a movie. For those of you old enough, look at Bridget Jones. The movies are phenomenal and differ significantly from the books, but that hardly matters at all. Sorry to preach, but I can't stand it when people don't expect their books to change drastically when put on the screen. Not only is it ok that they changed the timeline, but it's necessary to combine 7 books and 4 short stories into a two hour movie. We should be enjoying the movie for what it is, a fun family movie, and not for what it never claimed to be: a perfect translation of the books.

I liked the timeline changes I think the meshed the events really well so you could see events were going on at the same time (like taming Penny and taking tea lessons). And I thought tieing mother's sickness to the Polly's birth was well done since childbirth could take a toll on women's health then. Though I agree I didn't like grandfather dying so soon nor cutting Ben's whole running away thing. They totally left out Felicity keeping a promice for him. Other than that I liked it.

Yes, it was alittle different from the book but, hey, you should see the Samantha movie!!!!! Most of it wasn't even in the books at all!
